RISING ABOVE
VtPHA is a vocal proponent of science-based and evidence-informed solutions to our state’s urgent public health needs. Unfortunately, political partisanship and rancor often obscure practical approaches to helping Vermonters live healthier lives.
VtPHA provides access to trusted experts, resources, and policy ideas for those who are interested in moving past political posturing so that, together, we can improve the health of all Vermonters.

PUBLIC HEALTH CAUCUS
In January of 2024, VtPHA helped the Vermont Legislature inaugurate the country’s first state Public Health Caucus. Led by co-chairs Representative Dara Torre (Washington–2) and Representative Kate Nugent (Chittenden–10), the Public Health Caucus is:
“..a conference of Vermont State Legislators who are committed to advancing evidence-based public health policies that improve the lives of all Vermonters.”
VtPHA provides the caucus with administrative and educational support, helping to ensure that legislators hear from the state’s leading experts on a wide range of public health topics.
