The 2022 Individual and Team Public Health Champions Awardees Will Also Be Honored 


Presentations By:

Alison Krompf, MA, Deputy Commissioner, VT Department of Mental Health 

Alison will moderate the panel presentations and provide perspective on the data we have about the current state of the VT mental health system of care and solutions on how we move forward.


Kristy Hommel, M.Ed., Ending the Silence Coordinator, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

Kristy will share her own personal story and her lived experience in the mental health system as both a child and an adult, as well as provide insight as a Program Coordinator for NAMI VT.

 


Haley McGowan, DO,  Co-Director, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Consult service, The University of Vermont Medical Center 

Haley will share about her role in helping patients and families navigate an overburdened mental health system while also improving quality of care and facilitating access to services through collaboration with community-based supports.

 


Katina Idol, MA, LCMHC, ARC Trainer, Lamoille Community Connections

With years of experience working with children and families in a variety of school settings, and supervising school based clinicians, Katina will share her views on the mental health system with her unique clinical perspective.

Important Event Details

VtPHA is committed to creating a safe and healthy environment for all our attendees, exhibitors, and staff. As excited as we are to reunite with our public health community, we also recognize that COVID-19 is still a risk. We’ve implemented a no-risk refund policy through May 4, 2022, and protocols to help promote a safe on-site experience.

Specific health and safety measures will be described and disseminated as they become available. The protocols and information are subject to change.

You may cancel your registration for a full refund by May 4th. Cancellation requests received after May 4th, will receive a virtual ticket and no refund will be issued.

If we need to move to a 100% virtual event, you will receive a remote ticket and a refund for the balance. This decision will be made by May 4th.

After attending the Vermont Public Health Association Annual Meeting participants will be able to: 

  • Describe some of the key barriers to obtaining mental health services in Vermont.
  • Describe the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in adding to the emotional stressors on Vermonters and also the resulting burden on the mental health service delivery system.  
  • Understand the stressors associated with mental health needs for Vermonters, especially  those of children and families. 
  • Describe some key benefits of behavioral health prevention services for families and children.   
  • Understand the present opportunities and plans to improve upon the state's public health and clinical care system to address the mental health service needs of Vermonters.
