Extreme Heat Training with APHA & Climate for Health

Jul 6, 2026 | Education

Extreme heat kills more people each year than all other extreme weather events combined and disproportionately affects frontline communities. Fortunately, many, if not most, heat-related illnesses and deaths are preventable.

To help spark regional collaboration around climate and health-related trainings and to amplify awareness and access to education on this increasingly important topic, VtPHA has partnered with the University of Vermont’s Gund Institute for Environment and Osher Center for Integrative Health, Maine Public Health Association, and New Hampshire Public Health Association to pilot a new Extreme Heat training course created by the American Public Health Association and Climate for Health.

This course is intended to equip participants with tools to engage clinicians, public health professionals, policymakers and community stakeholders in taking action on extreme heat.

Covering both individual care and systemic solutions, the training will empower attendees to be leaders on extreme heat and health solutions. The training is approximately 4 hours long and includes resources, exercises, and engaging audience questions throughout.

Earn three FREE continuing education credits when you complete the course.
