Intern Spotlight: Hannah Ross (Dartmouth MPH ’26)

Apr 27, 2026 | Mentorship

My name is Hannah Ross, and I am a current MPH candidate at Dartmouth. My passion for public health sparked during my undergraduate career at the University of Vermont, where I earned a B.S in Public Health and Emergency Medical Services. I have grown to love Vermont for its strong sense of community and consider it my home, which is why I am driven by VTPHA’s mission to promote the health and well-being of Vermonters.

As an intern I’m working on Affordability and Health Equity in Vermont: The Role Public Health Professionals Should Take On. The goal of this project is to examine how the cost of living and affordability in Vermont have been shaped by local and federal policies, and to analyze affordability as a key driver of health. This work will identify and assess relevant community stakeholders and their influence within the policy landscape, while uncovering gaps in current research, legislation, and organizational programming related to economic stability and health equity.

Ultimately, the goal is to evaluate how the VTPHA can most effectively and strategically participate in statewide campaigns and fill the existing gaps in order to strengthen its advocacy efforts, support Vermonters, and advance health equity across communities.
