March Lunch-&-Learn: Influenza in 2025–2026 – Season Update and Implications for Public Health

VtPHA is excited to host CSL Seqirus’ Senior Medical Science Liaison for Vaccines – Andrew Rennekamp – as the speaker for our March Lunch-and-Learn.

Dr. Rennekamp will be providing a timely update on the current influenza season, including U.S. and regional epidemiologic trends and what we have learned as the season has unfolded. Topics will include observed vaccine effectiveness, the impact of strain mismatch—particularly H3N2 antigenic drift—and how advanced influenza vaccine technologies are designed to mitigate these challenges.

The session will conclude with practical public‑health‑focused takeaways for the remainder of the season and implications for future influenza planning.

Speaker Bio

Andrew J. Rennekamp, PhD – Senior Medical Science Liaison, Vaccines at CSL Seqirus

Dr. Andrew Rennekamp is a Senior Medical Science Liaison at CSL Seqirus and an influenza expert. He holds a Ph.D. in Virology from the University of Pennsylvania and completed fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. After nearly 20 years in research, he served as a Scientific Editor at Cell (2017–2021), leading immunology, vaccine, biotech, and COVID‑19 content. He joined CSL Seqirus in 2022 and represents U.S. Northeast Medical Affairs.
