Vermont Public Health Association Appoints New Executive Advisor

Statewide Membership Organization Strengthens Capacity

Burlington, VT - The Vermont Public Health Association (www.vtpha.org) announced today that it has hired Anthony Iarrapino as an Executive Advisor to guide the organization's growth and increase its capacity as a leading voice in national, state, and local public health policy initiatives. Mr. Iarrapino, a private practice attorney, previously served as the campaign director of the Alliance for a Healthier Vermont, a statewide obesity prevention coalition, and as a longtime environmental advocate at the Conservation Law Foundation working on clean water, healthy forest, and sustainable agriculture initiatives. He brings a wealth of public policy advocacy and nonprofit management experience to the organization.

In his role as Executive Advisor, Iarrapino will assist the organization's active volunteer board and dues-paying members as they advance new educational and advocacy initiatives in Vermont. Iarrapino stated that "As a relatively young organization, the Vermont Public Health Association has much to be proud of. I am excited by this chance to help the organization build on its record of accomplishment and become more dynamic. Working as an executive advisor to the organization enables me to continue promoting personal, community, and environmental health alongside some of the state's leading voices in the field."

Brian Flynn, chair of the VtPHA board, said "The VtPHA is fortunate to have this new role filled by a seasoned voice in public policy and organizational development as we forge new initiatives to develop a Vermont Public Health Institute, promote a "Health in All Policies" approach to public policy, and advocate for a public health role in health care reform. Anthony Iarrapino has the experience and vision needed to help VtPHA optimize its effectiveness in addressing these and other important issues as an independent voice for public health in Vermont."
