Diversity, It's What Makes Us Strong

If there is strength in diversity, the public health profession must be made of hardened steel. Public health practitioners come from the broadest of educational and professional backgrounds, with correspondingly diverse sets of interests and needs. We are community health workers and epidemiologists, clinicians and food bank workers, school nurses and health system administrators. As the saying goes, we contain multitudes.

To help add structure to our big-tent coalition, VtPHA provides members with two avenues for deeper engagement, Sections and Committees.

Sections

Launched by VtPHA in 2024, sections serve as a professional cohort within the broader association community. Sections are chaired by a VtPHA member and develop their own priorities and programming that support the networking, educational, and policy priorities of the section’s members. Sections can also make recommendations to the VtPHA policy committee, thus informing the Association’s policy positions. All sections coordinate with, and are supported by, VtPHA’s Executive Director and VtPHA’s full array of com-munications and advocacy infrastructure. See the list of active and proposed Sections.
